About Jason

Jason has been involved with personal training, strength & conditioning and group fitness classes for over a decade.  Jason is experienced in program design and implementation of one on one sessions as well as large group sessions for the general public as well as high school, collegiate and professional athletes. He is also a graduate from the National Personal Training Institutes 500-hour personal training school and formerly certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

In the late 90’s, before Jason was ever involved in fitness, he was a “client,” himself.

“I was about 80-100lbs over weight and weighed somewhere around 310-320lbs.  Some older, more experienced guys in the gym saw me working hard but not really getting the results.  They pulled me aside one day, basically tossed my plan in the trash and rewrote everything I was doing from the lifting to cardio to nutrition.  Because of those guys and how they reached out, I lost around 80-90lbs over the winter and I still train myself and now train clients with the style they taught me.  Full body circuit training.  I think it’s great for people trying to tone up, lose fat, prepare for a running event and generally get into excellent shape.  The sessions are quick and keep a consistent pace.  We work the weights in such a way where your heart rate is accelerating so you’re getting the cardio benefits as well.”

Jason has also been a football coach for nearly 20 years and has over 15 years of experience training volleyball, football, softball, track, and lacrosse athletes.

BLUE CHIP MINDSET

The basis and approach for Blue Chip is simple.  It's simple because we're already programmed to perform and achieve in this natural state.  Our DNA, our primal instincts are to be ACTIVE.

1) Move your body - It doesn't matter how fast or slow, just get it moving (sprint, jog or walk).

2) Lift things up, set them down - Aka, resistance training and not just shoulder pressing 5lb dumbbells or 25 curtsy lunges, I'm talking  about real workouts, hardcore weight training, preferably circuit training.  Why? Again, we’re talking about re-gearing the metabolism, building lean muscle to burn fat 24/7.  Unfortunately, that doesn't happen with sets of 20+, it happens with sets that fail between 1-12… so it might be heavier than you're used to, and you will be sore!  Accept it early on, the soreness will fade and your body will adjust for the better.  Contradicting point: There is a a time and place for 20+ reps, but not often.

3) Variety is the spice of life! - For us, this is what Primal training is all about, finding resistance movements in the gyms/weight rooms that improve everything we do.  We use kettle bells, Olympic lifts, our own body weight and gravity, elements of standard weight training, and power yoga to help us tap into "tune in," and find new levels that help us become who we were born to be, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

4) If you can plant it and pick it or pull it; if you can hunt it, you can eat it - To steal a line from Mike Dolce's Cook Book, "The Dolce Diet," we believe in Earth Grown Nutrients.  It means just that, natural food sources as they were intended to be consumed.

5) E+R=O: What the above encapsulates, along with other branches of the training, is sound, effective decision making. There are millions of trainers and coaches and programs and apps, but until you meet someone to help you adjust the thought process to help you create better results through better choices, you will continue to live par-subpar. Good decisions create advantageous outcomes. This is the primary goal and mission of our training together. Event + Response = Outcome.

If you're interested in achieving your ideal weight and strength, then maintaining it or steering it how you like; if you're interested in building on successes, and then sharing and inspiring others, Blue Chip Strength is for you.  Whether you're new to training or reaching for a D1 scholarship, the program is right here.

“He who controls others may be powerful,

But he who has mastered himself is mightier still.”
